General Meeting w/ Local Mayors

Mayor Rudy Wright (Hickory)
Mayor Robert Mullinax (Newton)
Chairperson for Catawba County Commisioner - Kitty Barnes

Exits & entrances from Hwy 321

--------------------------------------------------------

We are concern that the traffic from HSP's events will congest surrounding roads (ie Hwy 10 and other smaller roads) and cause inconvenience to surrounding neighbors.  We want to know if there's anything that they can do to put an exit and entrance from Hwy 321 to HSP's facility.

We need to get in touch with a Traffic Engineer to help us evaluate the area and roads.  The Mayors & Commissioner do not have an answer for us at the moment, but if we need help with finding a Traffic Engineer, they can help us find one, however before we approach them we should do our own homework and give them a roughly guess of how many cars/people do we expect to go through the facility.  They also said that they will check with Judge Cullen and John Tippid to see what steps are necessary to get this done for us if even possible.

Small bridges, narrow roads & future bridge

-----------------------------------------------------------------

We are concern that the bridges and roads to HSP's facility is too small/narrow, and will cause traffic jam.  Also what will happen to those small bridges/roads once the future big bridge has been put in place?

They do not know of a future bridge that is planned, but will double check with their development department.  As for small bridges & roads, the possibility of the city extending them is slim due to budget shortage, however depending on the circumstances (ie neighbors complain, HSP's traffic do jam because of those bridges, etc...), the city may re-evaluate.  Again, they said if anybody have any questions/concerns, we should get in touch with them and they will direct us to the right people that can provide us with answers.

Funds/Grants to help HSP with Electricity & Sewer/Water

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Are there any grants/funds to help HSP get electricity & water/sewer on the property?

Answer:
Mayor Robert Mullinax said we may be able to find some grants up in Washington D.C.  The other Mayor & Commissioner said they will look to see if there are grants available, but highly doubt that there are any, however they encourage us to do our own research regarding grants.  We can use resources, such as the Internet, and public library.  We should not rely 100% on them for this request.  We can look for grants as far as Washington D.C.

Other Note

-----------------------------
We showed them the blueprint and they said that we should send a copy to their development department so they have an idea of what we are trying to do and can better provide us with information/resources.  Please send a copy of the blueprint preferably via email to ramullinax@charter.net (Mayor Mullinax) so he can route it to the appropriate person.
